Navigating the CSP Admin Portal

Making the Switch to an Office 365 Plan?

Although it may seem daunting at first, you will soon realize that managing licensing is actually a lot simpler than it looks. Follow this quick guide and you will be up and running with your new Office software in no time.

Step 1.

You have probably seen this screen countless times – go ahead and sign in with your administrative account (or create one if you have not already).

Sign in to your Office portal
A delightful sunset (or sunrise) in the distance.

Step 2.

Once you have reached the landing page you will be greeted with a kind message and a couple of places to access your admin portal – either by the grid icon in the top-left corner or listed under your apps.

It’s like a less exciting version of “Choose Your Own Adventure”.

Step 3.

Great! Next we are going to find the user you are looking to assign the license to and do just that. Click on “Active users”.

You can also use the drop-down menu.

Step 4.

Perfect! You will see a list of all of the active users in your organization, you can scroll through or use the search bar near the top to find whoever needs a license. Click on the checkbox next to their display name(s).

Protip: You can select multiple users at a time if they all need the same software license.

I always knew ‘testuser’ was a troublemaker.

Step 5.

Awesome. You will now see a panel slide in from the right – click on “Edit” next to “Product licenses”.

Let’s make sure he never breaks the law again.

Step 6.

Almost there! Select the country and license for the software that the user needs, and click “Save”.

We’re using Office 365 Enterprise E3 for this tutorial but YMMV.

Step 7.

Woohoo! They are now licensed and ready to go. You can close down the confirmation window.

No longer will ‘testuser’ be an offender.

Step 8.

You can tell the user(s) to sign in to their account and install away.

Nicely done! Not so bad, right?
